Abstract

The quality of the state estimation (SE) of an electric power system (EPS) is essentially a subjective measure in established practice. A generally-accepted definition of the term “SE quality” and a method of measuring it are lacking. Automated analysis of a change in SE quality after a model correction when adjusting the model and performing calculations of the electrical modes during operation is hindered because of this. Comparison of the numerical values of SE quality obtained from use of programs with various algorithms would serve as a constructive stimulus for the improvement of these algorithms. A definition of the term “SE quality” and a method of measuring it are proposed. Materials from the experience of preparing and conducting calculations for SE programs for a significant number of power systems of UES of Russia have been used.
