Abstract

Microprocessor relay protection and automation (RPA) devices open up broad opportunities for realization of the most complex algorithms. Since traditional power system overcurrent RPAs have insufficient sensitivity and speed, this paper proposes new multi-hypothesis methods of recognizing modes of operation in RPA of power systems, based on statistical principles. An example is given of using the developed algorithms of relay protection (RP) with an assessment of their effectiveness.
