Abstract

Amethod for calculating currents in the wires of overhead transmission lines during asymmetric short circuits is proposed. This method is based on representing an overhead line as a multi-conductor system, so that the currents along each wire (in the phase and lightning protection cables and/or optical cables built into lightning protection cables) can be calculated taking into account the different characteristics of the line circuit, along with the major factors which produce the asymmetry of the initial three-phase transmission system.
