Abstract

Noise barriers are an effective method of mitigating the noise made by various equipment. Factors influencing the acoustic efficiency of noise barriers such as height, sound-absorbing material, slanted top, and position relative to the noise source are considered. The experience of using noise barriers for cooling towers, transformers, gas-distribution plants, ventilation systems, and air inlets and casings of compressors is described.
