HIGH LEVELS OF STEROID-METABOLIZING ENZYMES IN THE EPIDERMIS OF PATIENTS WITH MELANOCYTIC TUMORS OF THE SKIN

Abstract

The functioning of the skin as a neuroimmunoendocrine system organ during development of skin tumors received insufficient attention. Many locally produced regulators, for example steroid hormones, modify the intensity of skin cell proliferation. This fact suggests their involvement in the development of pathological processes in the skin. Changes in the epidermal keratinocyte production of steroid hormones in melanocytic tumors of the skin have been evaluated. These changes can be caused by development of these abnormalities. In addition, they suggest the formation of new therapeutic approaches in these diseases.
