Abstract

Laser quenching and application of wear-resistant powder to the cutting edge of a hob is considered, with careful positioning of the laser spot. Experimental data are analyzed. The quality of quenching and powder surfacing depends on the machining conditions; the quality of the laser radiation; the energy characteristics of the laser system; and the precision in positioning the laser focus.
