Universal Texturing Layer for High-Current HTSC Tapes

Varlashkin A.V., Massalimov B.I., Martovitsky V.P.

Abstract

The inclined substrate deposition method is used to grow MgO layers applicable to set textures incorporated in high-temperature superconductor (HTSCs) tapes with high critical current density. The method makes it possible to obtain polycrystalline sublayers with pronounced textures independently of the substrate crystal structure. Simultaneously, MgO has good adhesion to substrates made of a wide spectrum of materials. This makes the method a universal means for growing texturing buffer layers incorporated in high-current HTSC tapes.

Dispersion of Exciton Polaritons in Terbium Nitrate Hexahydrate

Gorelik V.S., Ulitko V.E.

Abstract

The dispersion relations of exciton polariton waves in terbium nitrate hexahydrate are determined based on the model of the interaction of electromagnetic waves with resonant electronic states of Tb3+ ions at the 5D47F6 transition. Frequencies of unitary polaritons characterized by refractive indices equal to unity are determined. It is shown that the group velocity of electromagnetic waves in the region of unitary polaritons is lower than the speed of light in vacuum by several orders of magnitude. A sharp increase in the efficiency of photoluminescence and Raman scattering is predicted in the case where the excitation radiation frequency approaches the unitary polaritons frequency.

Diagnostics of Radiative Processes in Semiconductors, Excited by Ultrashort High-Voltage Pulses

Bagramov V.G., Danielyan G.L., Nasibov A.S., Podvyznikov V.A., Tasmagulov I.D., Chevokin V.K.

Abstract

A configuration of the multichannel system for diagnostics of radiative processes in various regions of the discharge appearing in semiconductors in response to high-voltage pulses is considered. The system allows real-time recording of spectra, dynamics, and energy of radiation in nine emitting object zones 200–400 μm in diameter. The recording equipment is connected to objects under study by fiber-optic cables (FOCs). The system temporal resolution can be varied from 40 to 250 ps depending on the FOC diameter. An example of the simultaneous study of spatiotemporal characteristics of the streamer discharge at seven points of a CdSxSe1−x semiconductor wafer is given.

Dose Characteristics of the Ionization Chamber Based on TMS “Warm Liquid”

Siksin V.V.

Abstract

An ionization chamber is proposed, based on which dose characteristics of organosilicon liquid (tetramethylsilane (TMS)) featuring electronic conductivity at room temperature are studied with the purpose of its application for developing complex radiation detectors and dosimeters for planning beam therapy.

Gravitational Scattering of a Quantum Particle and the Privileged Coordinate System

Nikishov A.I.

Abstract

In gravitational scattering the quantum particle probes the Fourier-transforms of a metric. I evaluate the Fourier-transforms of Schwarzschildmetrics in standard, harmonic, and other coordinate systems in linear and G2-approximations. In general, different coordinate systems lead to different scattering. This opens up the possibility to choose the privileged coordinate system which should lead to scattering in agreement with experiment.

Neutron Activity of Thunderstorm Storm

Baskov V.A., Polyansky V.V.

Abstract

The results of measurements of the diffusion neutron flux from the thunderstorm storm occurred in Moscow in the night from July 13 to 14, 2016 at a distance ~30 km from detectors are presented. An increase in the frequency of coincidences of four channels of two scintillation detectors by ~10% with respect to coincidences in the absence of thunderstorm is found. The neutron yield in a single lightning discharge is estimated as ~1010 n/s.

On the Problem of Universal Density Functional

Bobrov V.B., Trigger S.A.

Abstract

A performed analysis shows that the density functional theory for the inhomogeneous electron gas, which is based on the hypothesis of the existence of the density functional for the external field potential is incorrect. This means that the density functional theory is not an ab initio theory.
