Large-scale Instability during Gravitational Collapse with Neutrino Transport and a Core-Collapse Supernova
Аннотация
Most of the energy released in the gravitational collapse of the cores of massive stars is carried away by neutrinos. Neutrinos play a pivotal role in explaining core-collape supernovae. Currently, mathematical models of the gravitational collapse are based on multi-dimensional gas dynamics and thermonuclear reactions, while neutrino transport is considered in a simplified way. Multidimensional gas dynamics is used with neutrino transport in the flux-limited diffusion approximation to study the role of multi-dimensional effects. The possibility of large-scale convection is discussed, which is interesting both for explaining SN II and for setting up observations to register possible high-energy (≳10MeV) neutrinos from the supernova. A new multi-dimensional, multi-temperature gas dynamics method with neutrino transport is presented.

The Light-time Effect in the Eclipsing Binaries with Early-type Components U CrB and RW Tau
Аннотация
A detailed study of the orbital-period variations of the Algol-type eclipsing binaries with earlyspectral- type primary components U CrB and RW Tau has been performed. The period variations in both systems can be described as a superposition of secular and cyclic variations of the period. A secular period increase at a rate of 2.58d × 10−7/year is observed for U CrB, which can be explained if there is a uniform flow of matter from the lower-mass to the higher-mass component, with the total angular momentum conserved. RW Tau features a secular period decrease at a rate of −8.6d × 10−7/year; this could be due to a loss of angular momentum by the binary due to magnetic braking. The cyclic orbital-period variations of U CrB and RWTau can be explained by the motion of the eclipsing binary systems along their long-period orbits. In U CrB, this implies that the eclipsing binary moves with a period of 91.3 years around a third body with mass M3 > 1.13M⊙; in RW Tau, the period of the motion around the third body is 66.6 years, and the mass of the third body is M3 > 1.24M⊙. It also cannot be ruled out that the variations are due to the magnetic cycles of the late-type secondaries. The residual period variations could be a superposition of variations due to non-stationary ejection of matter and effects due to magnetic cycles.

Starspots and Activity of the Flare Star GJ 1243
Аннотация
The photometric variability of the uniqueMdwarf flare star GJ 1243 (KIC 9726699) is investigated using the most complete set of observationalmaterial obtained with the Kepler Space Telescope. The analysis is based on 49 487 individual brightness measurements obtained during an interval of 1460 days (nearly four years). The periodicity of the brightness variations with the period Pphot = 0.59261 ± 0.00060d is confirmed. The temperature inhomogeneities on the stellar surface reconstructed from the light curve are used to drive maps of these surface-temperature inhomogeneities (of the filling factor f). The resulting maps are used to determine the positions of active regions. Analysis of the surface-temperature maps for GJ 1243 led to the conclusion that the positions of spots on the stellar surface displayed appreciable evolution during the analyzed time interval. The maximum value for the lower limit on the differentialrotation parameter ΔΩ is 0.0022 rad/day. This more accurate estimate of ΔΩ is lower than the values presented earlier by Davenport et al. [1] (0.0058 and 0.0036 rad/day), due to the more accurate account of variations in the positions of the most active longitude in the current study. However, the differentialrotation estimate obtained in [1] using a method based on fitting the evolution of spots using twodimensional Gaussian functions essentially coincides with the new estimate presented here. The fractional area of the total spotted surface S of the star during the observing interval considered varied from 7 to 2%. The amplitude of the brightness variability of the star slowly decreased, varying in the range 1.6−0.5%. Overall, the position of GJ 1243 in spottedness–age, spottedness–rotation period, and spottedness–Rossby number diagrams agrees very well with the general character of the dependences displayed in earlier studies of M dwarfs.

The Nature of Variations in Anomalies of the Chemical Composition of the Solar Corona with the 11-Year Cycle
Аннотация
Evidence that the distribution of the abundances of admixtures with low first-ionization potentials (FIP < 10 eV) in the lower solar corona could be associated with the typology of the largescale magnetic field is presented. Solar observations show an enhancement in the abundances of elements with low FIPs compared to elements with high FIPs (>10 eV) in active regions and closed magnetic configurations in the lower corona. Observations with the ULYSSES spacecraft and at the Stanford Solar Observatory have revealed strong correlations between the manifestation of the FIP effect in the solar wind, the strength of the open magnetic flux (without regard to sign), and the ratio of the large-scale toroidal and poloidal magnetic fields at the solar surface. Analyses of observations of the Sun as a star show that the enhancement of the abundances of admixtures with low FIPs in the corona compared to their abundances in the photosphere (the FIP effect) is closely related to the solar-activity cycle and also with variations in the topology of the large-scale magnetic field. A possible mechanism for the relationship between the FIP effect and the spectral type of a star is discussed in the framework of solar–stellar analogies.

Motion in a Central Field in the Presence of a Constant Perturbing Acceleration in a Coordinate System Comoving with the Velocity Vector
Аннотация
The motion of a zero-mass point under the action of gravitation toward a central body and a perturbing acceleration P is considered. The magnitude of P is taken to be small compared to the main acceleration due to the gravitation of the central body, and the components of the vector P are taken to be constant in a reference frame with its origin at the central body and its axes directed along the velocity vector, normal to the velocity vector in the plane of the osculating orbit, and along the binormal. The equations in the mean elements were obtained in an earlier study. The algorithm used to solve these equations is given in this study. This algorithm is analogous to one constructed earlier for the case when P is constant in a reference frame tied to the radius vector. The properties of the solutions are similar. The main difference is that, in the most important cases, the quadratures to which the solution reduces lead to non-elementary functions. However, they can be expressed as series in powers of the eccentricity e that converge for e < 1, and often also for e = 1.

A Numerical–Analytical Approach to Modeling the Axial Rotation of the Earth
Аннотация
A model for the non-uniform axial rotation of the Earth is studied using a celestial-mechanical approach and numerical simulations. The application of an approximate model containing a small number of parameters to predict variations of the axial rotation velocity of the Earth over short time intervals is justified. This approximate model is obtained by averaging variable parameters that are subject to small variations due to non-stationarity of the perturbing factors. The model is verified and compared with predictions over a long time interval published by the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS).
