Resumo
Results are considered from pulse experiments on measuring the heat capacity of conductive solids near the melting point. Increased heat capacity that falls to equilibrium values after transitioning to the liquid phase is observed prior to melting in nearly all experiments. It is assumed the reason for this increased heat capacity is the emergence of nonequilibrium pair Frenkel defects upon pulsed heating.
