Contactless Online Method for Checking-Up a Net-Shaped Curtain’s Tension of a Radio-Reflecting Surface of Large Umbrella Reflector Antenna

Аннотация

A new contactless method for checking-up a net-shaped curtain’s tension of a radio-reflecting surface of a large umbrella reflector antenna is presented. The method is based on revealing the correlation between Moiré patterns and net-shaped curtain uniformity and tension. The advantages of the method are presented. Its main advantage lies in the fact that it is possible to set the netshaped curtain on the folding skeleton of an antenna reflector in the online mode. A way to apply the method is presented.

Movement Simulation of a Five-Link Crawling Robot with Controlled Friction Forces

Аннотация

This paper considers the motion of a five-link crawling robot equipped with special friction elements for the periodic clamping of the links along a rough horizontal surface. A classification of the modes of motion depending on the presence of obstacles on the surface and ways of crossing them is presented. One of the crawling modes along the surface without obstacles or with obstacles when the end links are detached from the surface and the adjacent ones rotate by a given angle in the motion plane is analyzed. The influence of the control parameters on the average robot speed is established.

Simulation of 3-D Deformable Bodies Dynamics by Spectral Boundary Integral Equation Method

The study of the dynamics of inhomogeneous elastically deformable media under conditions of stationary and transient loading processes is based on the integral representation of the corresponding boundary value problems with time-dependent fundamental solutions and a combination of methods for solving boundary integral equations with Fourier transforms. Theoretical bases of methods for solving boundary integral equations focused on effective numerical implementation and application flexibility are presented. The accuracy of the proposed approach is discussed. Three-dimensional applied problems are solved in support of the effectiveness of the developed method.

Method for Improving the Strength Properties of Motor Vehicle Transmission Parts

A method to improve the strength properties of transmission parts of motor vehicles by application of a wear-resistant coating by an ultrasonic method making it possible to obtain thin highstrength layers is proposed. When applying the alloy material over the processed surface, an analytical method of elaborate selection a coating strengthener is used. The results of a study of toothed gear wheels of the transmission of motor vehicles with respect to strength, wear resistance, and noisiness of their work are presented.

On the Development of a Design Procedure of the Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Hydrogenerator Thrust Bearings Taking into Account the Heat Exchange

The problem solution for the thrust sector bearing of a hydrogenerator with oil lubrication is considered. The value of the most important hydrodynamic characteristic of the thrust bearing, which is the lifting force, is defined. The pressure field is determined by the direct numerical integration of the Navier-Stokes equations for a lubricating oil layer. The case of the absence of heat exchange between the lubrication layer and solid-state components of the thrust bearing and the case when the heat exchange is taken into account are considered. The calculation results, which are compared with an experiment, are presented. The research results can serve as the basis to develop automation systems for designing hydrogenerator thrust bearings.

Improved Efficiency of the Process of Low-Temperature Plasma Hardening Based on its Monitoring

Investigations on the feasibility and development of the monitoring process for the lowtemperature plasma hardening of metal items are carried out. It is shown that it is reasonable to carry out monitoring according to the parameters of the signals registered in the plasma-item-stand-earth electric circuit and analyze it with the help of the value (Hurst exponent) numerically reflecting the main formation regularities and change of the signal structure in the hardening process. Requirements on the monitoring system providing the valid information support of low-temperature plasma hardening are formed. It is deduced from the experiments that the maximum hardened surface layer is formed if the hardening process is accompanied by signal generation with the minimal Hurst exponent values.

Computer-Aided Modeling of the Milled Groove Side Surface

Аннотация

A procedure for the computer-aided modeling of the side surface of a milled groove is presented. The procedure is based on dissecting the groove surface with parallel planes and building 2D sections in each of these planes. The mathematical model used for the purpose makes it possible to separately account for the shifts and tilts of the mill caused by various factors. The indicated modeling can be used to optimize control programs for the purpose of attaining the target machining resolution, as well as to evaluate the precision characteristics of the metal cutting machine in the design phase.

Constructive-Technological Features of a Rotary Drawing of Geometrically Complex Hollow Shafts for Gas Turbine Engines

For manufacturing thin-walled shafts for gas turbine engines of heat-resistant steels and alloys, the labor-intensive multistage drawing of a sheet of the workpiece in dies is used. The following problem is posed in the work: to study the possibility of manufacturing such parts by a less labor-intensive method: the rotary drawing of a thick-walled workpiece (sheet) by a spinning lathe by rolling a roll under hot deformation conditions. For this purpose, the computer and physical modeling of the rolling process of hollow shafts of a thick-sheet steel workpiece was carried out. The important parameters of the technological process of manufacturing a geometrically complex shaft are determined: the initial workpiece shape and the changes in its shape when rolled on a mandrel mounted on the spindle of the spinning lathe of the PNC 600 type. The research results are used for rolling full-size shafts of chromium steel of the EI962-Sh grade.
