Probabilistic estimation of the remaining lifetime of a oil and gas pipeline by the hoop-stress criterion

Аннотация

A forecasting model of the remaining lifetime of a diagnosed oil and gas pipeline is suggested depending on the strength reliability factor: the survival probability when the breaking point, pressure, diameter and wall thickness are regularly distributed, and the remaining lifetime is subject to a Weilbull two-parameter distribution.

Determination of influence of laser welding modes and powder material composition on wear resistance of coatings

Аннотация

The results of metallographic studies and laboratory comparative adhesion strength tests of the coating with the base and abrasive wear by Brinell–Havorth method of weld powder coatings on nickel base with a width of weld layer of 20–80 mm and a height of 3–9 mm in one pass and samples of 40Kh steel have been presented. The adhesion strength of coating with hardness of 38–42 HRC was 400–480 MPa. It has been revealed that, at a hardness of the weld layer of 58–61 HRC, the wear resistance of coatings is higher than that of 40Kh steel in normalized and the improved state by 10 and 4.6 times respectively.

Compression of cavitation bubble in viscous liquid

This work is devoted to studying the compression of cavitation bubbles by viscous liquid and the rate of steam compression in it within a wide range of Reynolds numbers. The influence of heat conductivity in bubble, the compressibility of liquid and evaporation/condensation on the surface of the bubble have been studied. It has been shown that the maximal pressure inside of the bubble increases sharply in a small neighborhood of some critical value with growth in the Reynolds number. This critical value is close to the one established by Zababakhin, which separates regimes of the bubble collapse in incompressible liquid for finite and infinite times.

On the problem of wrecking vessels with moving cargoes

Аннотация

The problem of transporting swaying cargoes on the vessels in the conditions of rough waters. To study the motion of the cargoes and forecast the emergency it is offered to use the vibratory displacement (transportation) theory mainly developed by the native scientists. The motion of a flat solid body along the vibrating rough surface is considered to be the model. The use of the model enables one to define the velocity of the slow motion of the body and its direction to the symmetry plane of the vessel or to its boards. The last case is related to the center-of-gravity shift of the vessel, which leads to an increased roll, or even capsizing. The critical roll angle is specified—the angle corresponding to the start and motion of the swaying cargo on board of the vessel. The possibility of using deformable or granular materials has been noted.

Interaction dynamics of pulsating viscous liquid with the walls of the conduit on an elastic foundation

Аннотация

Bending oscillations of walls of conduit on Winkler foundation under the influence of pulsating flow of viscous liquid have been studied. The statement and solution of hyper-elasticity problem have allowed analytical expressions for channel wall bends and pressure in liquid to be defined, as well as the distribution functions for bend amplitudes and pressures along the channel to be plotted. The performed calculations showed the significant impact of taking into consideration the elastic compliance of the channel foundation on the bend amplitude of channel walls and pressure in the channel. The obtained results present the possibilities of studying the dynamic processes conditioned by the interactions of elastic structural elements with viscous liquid in hydraulic drives, assemblies, and devices.

Examples of studies of technological processes of the plasma spraying of protective coatings on elements of liquid-propellant rocket and gas turbine engines have been given, and the possibilities of sealing technologies to increase their service life have been shown. The evaluation of efficiency of coatings obtained by plasma spraying from mechanical mixtures of powders based on Ni[Cg] in relation to power plants of vehicles based on freepiston engines.

Development of technique for evaluating the scoring resistance of aluminum alloys according to sclerometry results

The research results of experimental aluminum alloys intended for the possible replacement of costly bronzes in the friction units of railway transport have been presented. The preliminary selection of alloys was carried out by the sclerometry technique on the criterion of relative shear strength as more informative compared with microcutting contact stress. The tribotechnical tests of selected alloys were performed by the three-finger scheme, which simulates the work of supporting the sliding bearing. In principle, the test results confirmed the possibility of using these alloys as substitutes for bronze. The structure and chemical composition of surface both the original samples and the samples after testing was studied. The influence of the alloy’s chemical composition on the tribological properties of investigated alloys has been revealed.

Development of a dynamic model and study of the dynamic characteristics of an end gas dynamic seal

A significant part of damages in end gas dynamic seals are caused by dangerous vibrations. To improve the reliability of these seals, it is necessary to develop adequate mathematical models and to perform integrated computational and experimental studies. In this article, the two-mass dynamic model for an end gas dynamic seal is considered, which is the most appropriate for practical cases. Theoretical and experimental analyses of the dynamic state of a seal have been performed. The scope of vibration amplitudes and frequencies has been determined for an end gas dynamic seal. The results can be used to design new seals and to implement seals in compressors with magnetic supports.

A criterion of structural materials cost minimization while satisfying elastic strength requirements is used as an optimality criterion.

The problems of evaluating errors when measuring the displacements of magnetorheological transformers by ultrasonic wave methods have been considered, in which the throttle channels were replaced by the cylindrical gap between two coaxial cylinders [1]. The cylinder gap, as well as the volumes of main and compensation chambers have been filled with magnetorheological fluid. Under the action of the shock loads, the measurement of displacements by wave methods is associated with a number of features that have been considered in this article and the evaluation of the measurement errors is implemented.
