Abstract
The peculiarities of deformation propagation and damage accumulation in a structurally unstable material, like bronze, are considered, and a way to increase the cyclic plasticity of solid (cold-worked) bronze is revealed. It is noted that in estimation of the levels of accumulated damages and in the extreme case of crack formation in unstable structural materials it is necessary to determine the degree of “softening” of material under the action of alternating-sign amplitudes of elastoplastic deformation.
