Abstract
The operating experience of prototype pit excavators has been overviewed. The reasons for the failures of machine elements in hydraulic systems, working equipment, and swivel platforms have been analyzed. The results of full-scale testing of metal structures and hydraulic systems of machines have been presented. Based on the performed studies, recommendations have been given for the lifetime determination of operating machines.
