Abstract
Suggested in this work is a novel approach to the calculation of the dynamic coefficients of fluid film bearings. In contrast to traditional approaches, this technique allows the scope of the necessary computations to be materially reduced. Considered here, as a concrete example, is a tilting-pad journal bearing for which the approach suggested offers the greatest advantages. The results of our computations are compared with experimental data.
