Chemical transformations in the zone of spall damageability

Buravova S.N., Petrov E.V., Alymov M.I.

Abstract

The results of experiments on studying the perlite–ferrite structure in steels under short-term negative pressures are described. It is shown that in the localized deformation bands formed in the zone of interference of unloading waves, where the tension stress is lower than the dynamic strength of the material, the cementite bands in perlite are crushed, their fragments are in part dissolved and enriched with carbon, and the cementite can pass into a steady spherical form on the boundary with ferrite. At relatively high shock-wave amplitudes, the perlite in its entirety acquires a spheroidal shape.

A microwave dielectric resonant oscillatory circuit

Sigov A.S., Shvartsburg A.B.

Abstract

Bias currents in a thin dielectric nonconducting torus are investigated, and the resonant mode of excitation of these currents is established. The similarity of the frequency spectrum of such a dielectric element to the spectra of a classical Thomson oscillatory circuit and a metamaterial with negative permittivity is demonstrated. The resonant frequency of electromagnetic oscillations of the ring dielectric circuit and magnetic and electric fields of such a circuit under resonant excitation are determined.

Condition of resonant break-up of gas bubbles by an acoustic wave in liquid

Vanovskiy V.V., Petrov A.G.

Abstract

The linear theory of damping of radial vibrations of a bubble in a liquid is constructed by taking into account the key dissipative mechanisms: thermal, viscous, and acoustic. The basic approximation of homobaricity made helps to obtain the results in a convenient and simple form. The results obtained for damping are used further in the description of the forced resonant oscillations of a bubble in an acoustic wave with the frequency equal to the eigenfrequency of the radial oscillation mode and twice as high as the frequency of the deformation oscillation mode (resonance 2:2:1). It is shown that the amplitude of deformation oscillations, which is reasonably large for breaking, is developed at a relatively small pressure amplitude of the exciting acoustic wave, and subharmonics arise in the acoustic-emission spectrum. The condition of bubble break-up is obtained for a fast and slow start of the acoustic wave.

Low-temperature ignition of droplets of suspension organic water–carbon fuels

Nakoryakov V.E., Glushkov D.O., Kuznetsov G.V., Strizhak P.A.

Abstract

The conditions and integral characteristics of stable low-temperature ignition of droplets of suspension organic water–coal fuels are established by using the means of high-speed video-detection. The oxidizer temperature for these conditions varies in the range of 600–900 K (much below the temperatures in furnace chambers of modern power installations exceeding 1200 K). The velocity of the oxidizer-flow motion varies from 0.5 to 5 m/s, and the sizes (conditional radii) of droplets vary from 0.5 to 1.5 mm. The times of initiation of burning under conditions of low-temperature heating and the duration of the complete combustion of droplets of the corresponding compositions of organic water-coal fuels are determined. The necessary and sufficient conditions of stable ignition are singled out for promising organic water–coal fuels.

Effect of fluid flow on cavitation erosion of materials under exposure to vibrations from a hydrodynamic generator

Ganiev R.F., Zhebynev D.A., Feldman A.M.

Abstract

The results of investigation of cavitation erosion of lead in various places of a hydrodynamic-generator submerged jet are presented. Features of erosion caused by the effect of flow are established. It can both strengthen the erosion intensity and weaken it in dependence on the angle of incidence. The stratification of air bubbles under the action of pressure waves is possible in the flow under the interaction with the surface of objects. The flow can change the number of air bubbles participating in the cavitation near the surface. It can also influence the mechanical effect on the surface of the tested materials inducing their nonuniform deformation. All the factors listed affect the cavitation erosion complicating considerably the physics of the process.

Krutov V.V., Sigov A.S., Shchuka A.A.

Abstract

The conditions for forming regular domain structures by the double-pulse heterothermal technique are established with regard to new data on heat transfer in films. The main technological parameters of regular domain structure formation in lead zirconate titanate samples are determined.

Beltrami stress fields in an elastic body

Aristov S.N., Keller I.E.

Abstract

It is proposed to search for solutions to the equation of continuum equilibrium satisfying additionally the Beltrami tensor equation, which describes self-transformation of a solenoidal field and is well-known in hydrodynamics for the velocity vector field; however, it has apparently still not been considered for tensor fields. A series of localized stress distributions twisting the material continuum are obtained as well as the stress distribution in the form of periodic structures in the space caused by the regular distribution of incompatible plastic deformation in an elasto-plastic solid. The obtained solutions are not known in the theory of elasticity and represent a certain interest in connection with the description of defects in a solid.

Karabut E.A., Zhuravleva E.N.

Abstract

This study is devoted to finding exact solutions of the plane unsteady problem on the motion of an ideal incompressible free-boundary fluid. A certain procedure of reproduction making it possible to obtain a two-parametrical family of new exact solutions from one known solution is proposed.

Dynamics and design of a power unit with a hydraulic piston actuator

Misyurin S.Y., Kreinin G.V.

Abstract

The problem of the preselection of parameters of a power unit of a mechatronic complex on the basis of the condition for providing a required control energy has been discussed. The design of the unit is based on analysis of its dynamics under the effect of a special-type test conditional control signal. The specific features of the approach used are a reasonably simplified normalized dynamic model of the unit and the formation of basic similarity criteria. Methods of designing a power unit with a hydraulic piston actuator that operates in point-to-point and oscillatory modes have been considered.
