Abstract

The electrorheological effect intensity is significantly influenced by the strength of the structure formed in an electric field due to the orientation of dispersed phase particles with respect to force lines. The structural organization of the filler in an electric field has been studied by X-ray diffraction on paraffin films. Particles of layered aluminosilicates with a high aspect ratio and various morphology such as montmorillonite and halloysite, are used as fillers. The distinctions in the structure formation of fillers shaped as lamellae and tubes are demonstrated.
