Abstract
The character of variation in a photoacoustic signal around a hole in duralumin samples is studied. The experimental results are compared with the solution of the classical problem for the distribution of stresses around a round hole in a preliminarily stressed plate. A good correspondence between the behavior of a photoacoustic signal and piezoelectric detection and the distribution of stresses around the hole is demonstrated. The possibility of estimating internal stresses by the photoacoustic method in combination with the hole drilling method is shown.
