Implementation of complex digital PLL for phase detection in software defined radar

摘要

Software defined radar (SDR) has been the latest trend in developing enhanced radar signal processing techniques for state-of-the-art radar systems. SDR provides tremendous flexibility in reconfigurable design and rapid prototyping capabilities on FPGA platform. To cater real-time processing for high-speed radar, COordinate Rotation Digital Computer (CORDIC) unit has been utilized as a core processing element in a complex digital phase locked loop (DPLL) for digital demodulation of received signal. Since the real-time systems are required to handle extremely high sampling rates, the pipelined architecture of CORDIC processing element has been chosen for its inherent high system throughput. The architecture is optimized in terms of bit-length for better convergence and loop performance of the first order complex DPLL during demodulation. TheBOXCARfilter has been used as a low pass filter in the output stage of the detector for better information recovery from narrow samples with little energy signal without incurring hardware overhead. Extensive MATLAB simulations have been added to show the effectiveness of the design for the application of radar phase detection.

Prospects of a slotline utilization as the excitation element of a quasi-optical hemispherical resonator for the problems of liquids dielectrometry

Inthis article we propose the utilization of a quasi-optical resonator in the form of the resonant cavity of hemispherical shape in the metal as a measurement cell of a dielectrometer for the investigation of electrophysical properties of liquids. We have carried out the investigations of electromagnetic characteristics of the utilized resonator in the case of the air filling and of the partial filling by the analyzed liquids (benzene, butanol, ethanol, methanol). The possibility of effective excitation of whispering gallery modes using the slot line has been demonstrated. We have determined the possibilities of the utilized investigation technique of the electrophysical properties of different liquids and of their identification based on the variations of electromagnetic characteristics of the proposed measurement cell. It has been shown that in the case of a small perturbation of the resonance fields by samples of liquids (with volume up to 3 ml) this technique for the proposed resonator possesses a high sensitivity and resolution capability for the identification of liquids with a relatively small difference of the electrophysical parameters.

Intermodulation properties of double- and triple-circuit parametric amplifiers with nonlinear barrier capacitance

There have been performed an experimental investigation of intermodulation effects in narrowband regenerative double- and triple-circuit parametric amplifiers (RDPA and RTPA) with nonlinear barrier capacitance. It has been obtained that their single-signal and double-signal intermodulation characteristics are of the conventional form, and their phase shifts in the vicinity of the resonance frequency are close to 90°, that is not enough for the compensation of nonlinear distortions in the case of amplifiers cascading. It has been demonstrated that the introduction of the additional oscillatory circuit at the double signal frequency into RDPA does allow effective compensation of the intermodulation interferences of odd order in the single-stage parametric amplifier.

Stripe delay filters

There are considered constructions of microsized stripe delay filters, which are realized on a basis of ceramic materials with high dielectric permittivity. Delay time of non-minimal phase filters is 7–12 ns at frequencies of 1900 MHz with relative bandwidth of 3.6–3.85%. Filters dimensions are comparable with ones used in portable communication devices. Dimensions of researched three-resonator filter at frequency of 1900 MHz are 8.4×5×2mmwith material dielectric permittivity εr = 92, and 5-resonator filter ones are 9.2×8.6×2 mm. Filters are different from traditional delay filters. Two filters of considered ones contain odd resonator number and the third one contains four resonators and it has two cross couplings. The basis of the filters is amount of step-impedance stripe resonators pairs located close to each others whose electromagnetic coupling behavior is capacitive. There are represented the results of frequency characteristics simulation for different delay filters.

Electrodynamic calculation of infinite plane waveguide phased array antenna with external dielectric sheets

摘要

Using the penetrating area technique we have considered the solution of three-dimensional diffraction problem for an infinite plane phased array antenna consisting of rectangular waveguides with location in the form of a triangular mesh in the presence of plane-layered dielectric filling. The article presents the results, which confirm the correctness of the developed algorithm for electrodynamic calculation.
