The journal "Sensory Systems" was founded in January 1987. The journal should be considered as a continuation of the collections published by the Russian Academy of Sciences for forty-five years. We are talking about the well-known publications "Problems of physiological Optics" and "Problems of physiological acoustics", published in 1941 - 1971, and about the Yearbooks "Sensory Systems" (1977 - 1987). Selected articles are published in English translation in the journal “Neuroscience and Behavioral Physiology". The selection of articles for translation is carried out by the editorial boards and editors-in-chief of both journals in consultation with the authors.
