Uspekhi Khimii was founded in 1932 by the Russian Academy of Sciences. Since 1960 it has been translated into English and published as Russian Chemical Reviews. From 1992 to 2008 the English version was published electronically on the platform of the Royal Society of Chemistry, from 2009 to 2022 on the platform of the Institute of Physics of London (IOPP). Since June 2022 it is published on the website of the journal. The Russian version has been published electronically on the journal's website since 1992. The publisher and co-founder of the journal since 2004 is the N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
