Abstract

The behavior of a shell mold for investment casting is analyzed in terms of the theory of creep of a ceramic material. Creep is considered as an integral characteristic of the behavior of a shell mold material, which depends on its heat resistance, cracking resistance, gas generation, and gas permeability. Practical recommendations are made to decrease the negative influence of material creep on the quality of a shell mold and, hence, the related ingot.
