Revision of the genus Melamphaes (Melamphaidae): 7. oligo-raker species: M. danae and M. pumilis
Аннотация
Two species, M. danae Ebeling and M. pumilis Ebeling, belonging to the species group “M. simus” are described in the final part of the revision of oligo-raker species of the genus Melamphaes (Melamphaidae) (≤19 gill rakers on the first gill arch). The species M. danae is distributed in the Indian and Pacific oceans between 30° N and 30° S. In the Pacific Ocean, it is known up to 112° W. The species M. pumilis is distributed in the North Atlantic between 17° and 45° N, and the main catches have been conducted in the western part of the ocean. In the eastern part of the ocean, the catches are registered up to 28° W. A key for the identification of 21 oligo-raker species of the genus Melamphaes is presented.

Redescription and systematic position of nominal loach species Nemacheilus compressirostris and N. sibiricus (Nemacheilidae)
Аннотация
Type specimens of nominal species Nemacheilus compressirostris Warpachowsky, 1897, and N. sibiricus Gratzianov, 1907, from the upper Ob River basin were redescribed, and lectotypes for both species were selected. Although some traits were not preserved well enough, it was established that both names should be classified with Barbatula cf. toni, corresponding to the “snub-nosed” morphotype fide Prokofiev (2007). None of the names are suitable for designation of the morph “tigris” fide Gundrizer (1975) and Prokofiev (2007). A comparison table of diagnostic traits of the genus Barbatula from the Asian part of the range was compiled.

Polymorphism of skull proportions in large African barbs Barbus intermedius sensu Banister (Cyprinidae) from Lakes Awasa and Langano (Rift Valley, Ethiopia)
Аннотация
After performing principal component analysis (PCA) of 13 characters (indices) of skulls of large African barbs (Barbus intermedius complex sensu Banister, 1973) from Lakes Awasa and Langano (Ethiopia) distributions of individuals in coordinates BL and PC1 were studied where BL is the basal skull length and PC1 is the first principal component. It is shown that in both the lakes there are groups of barbs whose individual ontogenetic trajectories are situated within separated ontogenetic channels. Separation of the channels is by far less distinct than that of the channels of generalized and specialized forms of barbs from Lake Tana and not correlated with differences in external traits. It is suggested that the revealed polymorphism is connected with food resource partitioning and might serve as a prerequisite of further divergence of sympatric forms of large African barbs.

Functional morphology of the visceral apapratus of Atlantic salmon Salmo salar (Salmonidae)
Аннотация
The present paper contains a detailed description of the structure of the visceral apparatus of Atlantic salmon Salmo salar and presents the newly developed terminology for aponeurotic structures and ligaments that remained uncharacterized until now. Comparative analysis of dissection results and published data is performed. Specific features of the functioning of the visceral apparatus of Atlantic salmon during feeding are analyzed.

Ichthyofauna of fresh and brackish waters of Sakhalin Island: An annotated list with taxonomic comments: 1. Petromyzontidae–Clupeidae families
Аннотация
Based on a critical analysis of Russian and foreign publications for the last 200 years and on the results of the authors’ research, a complete annotated list of both typical freshwater ichthyofauna of Sakhalin Island, with the inclusion of the species occurring in lagoons of the island, and marine species that can be found in brackish and freshened coastal waters is presented for the first time. The list includes 175 species in three classes, 18 orders, 44 families, 19 subfamilies, and 114 genera. For each type, taxonomic comments are given, synonymy and conservation status, distribution within the island and rangewide, abundance and commercial value are clarified. Latin and English names are given. As is also a complete bibliography on the first descriptions and synonyms are provided. The first part presents the basic information about the history of the study, geographical and climatic-oceanographic characteristics of Sakhalin Island, and the first 11 species of the annotated list.

Timeline of the evolution of eelpouts from the suborder Zoarcoidei (Perciformes) based on DNA variability
Аннотация
Based on the analysis of variability of mitochondrial and nuclear DNA and calibration of the molecular clock using the paleontological data, the divergence time of the eelpouts is assessed. The temporal frames of the evolution of the suborder Zoarcoidei are restricted to the Late Oligocene and the middle of the Late Miocene, within a diapason of approximately 12 Ma. The families Bathymasteridae and Cebidichthyidae were the first to separate from the common ancestor, 14.7–22.5 and 13.1–19.1 Ma, respectively. The differentiation of other families occurred between the Middle and the Late Miocene approximately 10–15 Ma. The period from the Late Miocene to the Mid-Pliocene (3.6–7.8 Ma), most likely, was the time of the appearance and distribution of the present species of the suborder. Assessment of the DNA divergence rate in the eelpouts conducted in this study is in accordance with known evolutionary scenarios and with key steps of geological development of the World Ocean.

Biology of eelpout Zoarces elongatus (Zoarcidae) from Tauysk Bay, the Sea of Okhotsk
Аннотация
Based on the material collected in Tauysk Bay, the Sea of Okhotsk, from 1997 to 2014, the features of spatial distribution, body length and body weight composition, sex ratio, and some aspects of growth rate and reproduction of eelpout Zoarces elongatus are described. The representatives of the species prefer the biotopes with the littoral composed of large stones or pebbles, mainly from the upper border of the intertidal zone to the depths between 10 and 20 m. The catches mainly include the individuals with the body length 300−400 mm and body weight 0.1−100.0 g at the age between 5+ and 6+. Maximum registered body length, body weight, and age are as follows: 560.0 mm, 742 g, and 11+. The sex ratio (males: females) is 1: 1.2. In Tauysk bay, the release of juveniles occurs from November to December, and fecundity ranges from 20 to 185 eggs.

Age, growth and reproduction of the Iranian goby, Ponticola iranicus (Perciformes: Gobiidae) from the southern Caspian Sea basin
Аннотация
To estimate reproductive biology of Ponticola iranicus Vasil’eva et al., 2015, in Sefidroud River in the southern Caspian Sea basin age, sex ratio, fecundity, oocytes diameter, gonadosomatic, modified gonadosomatic and dobriyal indices were measured. Regression analyses were used to find relations between fecundity and fish size (length and weight), gonad weight, and age. Mature females and males were longer than 46 and 49 mm in total length, +1 in age. The Von Bertalanffy growth models were L∞ = 23.00 cm (TL), K = 0.21, t0 =–0.25 for all specimens. Sex ratio was 1: 1.32 in favor of males. The average egg diameter was 0.96 mm. The spawning period extended from late February to late April. The averages of absolute and relative fecundity were calculated as 536.9 and 81.3, respectively. The absolute fecundity was significantly related to the body length and weight, as well as gonad weight.

Linear growth of sparsely rakered whitefish Coregonus lavaretus (Coregonidae) of the Imandra Lake (Murmansk oblast)
Аннотация
This paper studies the properties of linear growth in sparsely rakered whitefish Coregonus lavaretus in the stretches of the large subarctic Imandra Lake, which are characterized by the diversity of habitat conditions and anthropogenic stress levels. The groups of sparsely rakered whitefish that are confined to different areas of the lake are marked out based on the properties of growth, trophic status, and anthropogenic stress intensity. A direct relationship of the linear growth in whitefish with the age of sexual development and trophic level of its habitats is found.

Reproductive features of Upeneus margarethae (Mullidae), a species recorded in the coastal zone of Vietnam for the first time
Аннотация
The species Upeneus margarethae described recently from the western Indian Ocean is recorded in the coastal zone of Vietnam for the first time. The reproductive features of the representatives of the species from southern Central Vietnam (Nha Trang Bay), Central Vietnam (Da Nang), and North Vietnam (Ha Long Bay) are studied. Based on the analysis of maturity stages of female’s ovaries and gonadosomatic index, the fishes spawn over the entire year in Central Vietnam, but the spawning interruption is observed in North Vietnam during a winter season. In Nha Trang Bay, 50% of females reach sexual maturity at the body length (FL) 9.8 cm. Based on histological structure of ovaries and frequency distribution of oocyte diameter before the spawning, the oogenesis is continuous. Anomalous oocyte structure is registered in 20% of the females. Egg morphology is described for 3 h after activation of ovulated oocytes. A comparison of reproductive parameters in U. margarethae and U. tragula is conducted.

First record of Red Sea goatfish Parupeneus forsskali (Osteichthyes: Mullidae) from the Syrian coast (Eastern Mediterranean)
Аннотация
This paper reports the first record of Red Sea goatfish Parupeneus forsskali (Fourmanoir and Guézé, 1976) from the Syrian coast. This record confirms the occurrence of the species in the Levant Basin. However, no sufficient data were carried out to date to support that a population is at present substantially established in the same area.

Unusual record of bluemouth rockfish Helicolenus dactylopterus (Osteichthyes: Scorpaenidae) in Tunis Southern Lagoon (Northern Tunisia, Central Mediterranean)
Аннотация
The record of bluemouth rockfish Helicolenus dactylopterus (Delaroche, 1809) at low depth suggests that the species is prone to large vertical migrations. This capture confirms the occurrence of the species in the Tunisian waters where it is known as very rare. It confirms also the success of ecological restoration of Tunis Southern Lagoon and the possible establishment of fish populations, mainly due to a favourable biological environment, mostly constituted by crustacean species among them, species belonging to the genus Sphaeroma Latreille, 1802 play an important role.

On catches of low-latitude fish at Sakhalin coast in summer 2014
Аннотация
In summer 2014, catches of three tropical and subtropical fish species were registered at Sakhalin coast. The Japanese sea bass Lateolabrax japonicus was detected at Sakhalin coast for the first time, while the Japanese amberjack Seriola quinqueradiata was first detected in the Sea of Okhotsk waters sweeping the Sakhalin coast. The catch of the great white shark Carcharodon carcharias is the second confirmed case of this fish occurrence near the Sakhalin coast for the last 10 years.
