New species of the pelecypod genus Crassatella (Bivalvia) from the Upper Eocene of Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine
Аннотация
Two new species of the genus Crassatella, C. imitatoris sp. nov. and C. pseudolamellosa sp. nov., from Upper Eocene detrital sands of the Rybal’sky quarry of Dnepropetrovsk are described. The species Crassatella oblongula Klushnikov, 1958 is redescribed as a variety.
Jurassic lacewings (Insecta: Neuroptera) of Western Siberia
Аннотация
A lacewing assemblage from the Middle Jurassic of the West Siberian Kubekovo locality, the only know Jurassic lacewing fauna of Russia, is discussed. One new genus and two new species of Osmylidae from Kubekovo, Kubekius multiramosus gen. et sp. nov. and Epiosmylus longus sp. nov. are described. Thaumatomerobius mirabilis Ponomarenko, 1985 is transferred to the family Saucrosmylidae, which has only been recorded in the Middle Jurassic of Daohugou.
New sepulcids (Hymenoptera: Sepulcidae) from the Lower Cretaceous of Asia. I. Parapamphiliinae and Xyelulinae
Аннотация
Three new species of sepulcids (Hymenoptera: Sepulcidae) are described from the Lower Cretaceous of Khasurty, Transbaikalia: Pamparaphilius khasurtensis sp. nov., Micramphilius mirabilipennis sp. nov., and Onokhoius venustus sp. nov. The new species reveal the previously unknown structure of the hindwings in the subfamily Xyelulinae and the genus Micramphilius. A new method of preparation for stone fossils is also described.
A new horned sculpin (Pisces: Cottidae) from the Miocene of Sakhalin Island, Russia
Аннотация
A new species of the Recent genus Enophrys, E. hoplites sp. nov., is described from the Miocene (Serravalian‒Tortonian) Agnevo Formation of Sakhalin Island, Russia. This Miocene species differs from two Recent congeners in the greater number of anal fin rays (14 versus 9‒13), the smaller head, less raised margins of the orbit, flatter upper contour of the head, longer anal fin base, short predorsal distance, higher first dorsal fin, and in the right angle (versus acute angle) between two upper preopercular spines. An archaic feature of the new species is the presence of two rays on the posterior pterygiophore of the anal fin, a character recorded only in the most primitive Recent members of the family. The occurrence of this new fossil species shows that extant subfamilies, tribes, and genera existed as a part of the family Cottidae as early as the Miocene time.
Volcano-sedimentary rocks of the Sortavala Group: A habitat of ancient microorganisms
Аннотация
The assemblages of fossilized microorganisms from volcano-sedimentary material sandwiched between basaltic lava flows in Early Proterozoic (2.0 Ga ago) volcanics of the Sortavala Group of the Sortavala Uplift (northern Lake Ladoga region, near the village of Kharlu) are studied. It is confirmed that volcanogenic and volcano-sedimentary rocks are of significance for bacterial paleontology.
New data on the distribution of calcareous nannofossils in the Upper Jurassic Loino section (Kirov region, Russia)
Аннотация
The middle Volgian clayey deposits of the panderi Zone in the Loino section of the Kirov region have been found to contain an assemblage of calcareous nannofossils never studied in such high latitudes of the Boreal Realm. The species constituting this assemblage are characterized by wide geographic and stratigraphic distributions.
Shell morphology of cretaceous planktonic foraminifers as a means for paleoenvironment reconstructions
Аннотация
During the Cretaceous, there were several relatively short intervals with a relatively low oxygen content in the water column. They were named “Oceanic anoxic events.” These events changed essentially the characteristics of the water masses, which had a significant effect on the morphology of planktonic foraminifers. The proportion of taxa with elongated chambers of the last whorl periodically increased. This structural feature probably provided shells with certain advantage under nonstandard oceanographic conditions. The elongated chambers were probably advantageous for dwelling in conditions of a low oxygen content in the water column. The small size, extended last whorl chambers, and thin and light wall facilitated floating in the upper water layers, which are particularly rich in oxygen. This hypothesis is corroborated by widespread periodic lateral distribution of the morphotypes with extended chambers of the last whorl during rather short intervals with the low oxygen content in sea water, making them an important marker of paleoenvironments. Returning to the normal environmental parameters promoted an increase in the taxonomic diversity of planktonic foraminifers and appearance of new morphological features. At the same time, each of these events had certain distinctive features.
Jurassic Scaphopoda from the Russian platform: Pulsellidae and Gadilidae
Аннотация
The scaphopod families Pulsellidae and Gadilidae from sandy and clayey beds of the Jurassic (Callovian‒Volgian) of European Russia are investigated. In Pulsellidae, the following taxa are described: Annulipulsellum with two subgenera, Annulipulsellum (species A. ambiguum sp. nov., A. rugosum sp. nov.) and Mesopulsellum subgen. nov. (A. alternoides sp. nov., A. calloviense sp. nov., A. hirtistriatum sp. nov., A. medium sp. nov.), Gracilipulsellum gen. nov. (G. iodaense sp. nov.), Gardneridentalium gen. nov. (G. primitivum sp. nov., G. reticulatum sp. nov.), and Mesoentalina gen. nov. (M. fabulosa sp. nov.). New taxa of the family Gadilidae include the genus Mesoantalis gen. nov. with the species M. clava sp. nov., M. expolitum sp. nov., and M. volgense sp. nov.
Opisthobranch gastropods from the Lower Cretaceous of the Ulyanovsk Volga Region: 1. Genus Tornatellaea Conrad
Аннотация
Five new species of the genus Tornatellaea from the Lower Cretaceous of the Volga Region near Ulyanovsk, T. kabanovi sp. nov.
