Abstract

The equipment used in proton therapy to form dose distributions by passive scattering has been developed and tested. A new approach and software for calculating the design of proton-energy modulators (ridge filters) corresponding to the specified geometry of irradiated targets is proposed. The proposed technology makes it possible to advance the search for an optimal filter design to meet the quality requirements for radiation therapy. The results of calculations are presented in comparison with the experimental data obtained at the linear proton accelerator of the INR at beam energies of 160 and 209 MeV.
