Synthesis of the CeVO4 orthovanadate and its heat capacity in the range 350–1000 K

Cerium orthovanadate has been prepared by solid-state reaction via multistep firing of a stoichiometric mixture of CeO₂ and V₂O₅ in the range 873–1273 K. The molar heat capacity of CeVO₄ has been determined by differential scanning calorimetry in the temperature range 350–1000 K. The experimental data have been used to evaluate the thermodynamic properties of cerium orthovanadate: enthalpy increment H°(T)–H°(350 K), entropy change S°(T)–S°(350 K), and reduced Gibbs energy Φ°(T).
