Soliton-induced electric currents in plasma

Trukhachev F., Tomov A.

摘要

This is a theoretical study of the nonequilibrium motion of charged particles in an electric field of solitons. We show that the self-consistent electric field of ion-acoustic and electron-acoustic solitons is characterized by one-way transfer of charged particles at a distance of several Debye radii. The dependence of relevant local currents on the amplitude of solitons is determined. We consider the practically important case of a moving cascade consisting of many solitons and show that the induced currents have a significant constant component. The kinetic energy acquired by charged particles in the soliton field is calculated. The temporal resolution required for the recording of soliton-induced currents is estimated. The calculations presented here can be used to interpret the results of experiments conducted to study solitons in the space plasma.

Analysis of volatile lunar compounds: The study of gas retention time on Carbosieve SIII adsorbent with respect to temperature

Aseev S., Gerasimov M., Zaitsev M., Sapgir A.

摘要

This work presents the study of the characteristic retention times on Carbosieve SIII adsorbent for several permanent gases CO2, CO, CH4, N2 with respect to the temperature of cooling of adsorption accumulators. To perform this work, a laboratory model of a gas chromatograph that included all key components of a standard instrument has been designed.

Meteoroid and technogenic particle impact on spacecraft solar panels

Nadiradze A., Kalaev M., Semkin N.

摘要

This paper presents calculated models and the results of estimates of meteoroid and technogenic particle impact on spacecraft solar panels. It is shown that optical losses resulting from the formation of microcraters on the surface of protective glasses of semiconductor photoconverters (PC) are negligible (less than 0.01%). Significantly greater losses can occur as a result of shunting the PC p–n junction. In high and medium orbits, these losses are 0.1–0.2%/year for the glass thickness of 150 μm and the area of one PC of 30 cm2. Decreasing the glass thickness up to 100 μm can lead to increasing power losses up to 0.6%/year.

A simplified technique for determining the rotational motion of a satellite based on the onboard measurements of the angular velocity and magnetic field of the Earth

Abrashkin V., Voronov K., Piyakov I., Puzin Y., Sazonov V., Syomkin N., Chebukov S.

摘要

The mathematical model, which allowed us to reconstruct the rotational motion of the Bion M-1 and Foton M-4 satellites by processing the measurements of onboard magnetometers and the angular velocity sensor, is sufficiently detailed and accurate. If we slightly lower the requirements for accuracy and transfer to a rougher model, i.e., we will not update the biases in measurements of the angular velocity component, then the measurement processing technique can be significantly simplified. The volume of calculations in minimizing the functional of the least-square technique is reduced; the most complicated part of calculations is performed using the standard procedure of computational linear algebra. This simplified technique is described below, and the examples of its application for reconstructing the rotational motion of the Foton M-4 satellite are presented. A noticeable distinction in the reconstructions of motion, constructed by simplified and more exact techniques, is revealed in processing the measurements over time intervals longer than 4 hours.

Satellite dynamics under the influence of gravitational and aerodynamic torques. A study of stability of equilibrium positions

Sarychev V., Gutnik S.

摘要

The dynamics of the rotational motion of a satellite, moving in the central Newtonian force field under the influence of gravitational and aerodynamic torques, is investigated. The paper proposes a method for determining all equilibrium positions (equilibrium orientations) of a satellite in the orbital coordinate system for specified values of aerodynamic torque and the major central moments of inertia; the sufficient conditions for their existence are obtained. For each equilibrium orientation the sufficient stability conditions are obtained using the generalized energy integral as the Lyapunov function. The detailed numerical analysis of the regions where the stability conditions of the equilibrium positions are satisfied is carried out depending on four dimensionless parameters of the problem. It is shown that, in the general case, the number of satellite’s equilibrium positions, for which the sufficient stability conditions are satisfied, varies from 4 to 2 with an increase in the value of the aerodynamic torque magnitude.

Manifestation of the shape-memory effect in polyetherurethane cellular plastics, fabric composites, and sandwich structures under microgravity

Babaevskii P., Kozlov N., Agapov I., Reznichenko G., Churilo N., Churilo I.

摘要

The results of experiments that were performed to test the feasibility of creating sandwich structures (consisting of thin-layer sheaths of polymer composites and a cellular polymer core) with the shapememory effect as models of the transformable components of space structures have been given. The data obtained indicate that samples of sandwich structures under microgravity conditions on board the International Space Station have recovered their shape to almost the same degree as under terrestrial conditions, which makes it possible to recommend them for creating components of transformable space structures on their basis.

Spatial orbital tether constructions

Kogan A.

摘要

This paper is concerned with the problem of shape-retaining spatial tether configurations in a circular Keplerian orbit. Sufficient conditions of shape retention are described, which are imposed on the geometry of the structure, distribution of mass in the nodes, and parameters of rotation. The paper also mentions classes of structures with different properties of symmetry and motion, as well as specific examples of shaperetaining structures.
