On the Influence of the Centrifugal Force on the Performance of a Radial Axial Turbine
Аннотация
The forces acting on the blades of a radial axial turbine and the fluid are analyzed for introduction of the flow into the turbine from outside at an angle relative to a direction of the peripheral speed. The tilt angle of the blade is considered to be constant relative to the wheel radius. The influence of the centrifugal force, for which a certain amount of potential energy of the fluid is needed to be overcome, is estimated. Fluid velocity and blade velocity along with the fluid pressure on a turbine blade and the pressure exerted by the centrifugal force on the fluid are presented as functions of the initial fluid velocity and the peripheral speed of the turbine for different tilt angles of the blade and different flow directions.



Recommendations for the Construction and Strength Calculation of Upright Tanks for Sulfuric Acid Production
Аннотация
Recommendations for the construction and strength calculation of upright sulfuric acid tanks are given. An evaluation of the possibility of strength and stability calculations of tank shells in accordance with All-Russia State Standard 34233.2 and All-Russia State Standard 34283 is given. Relationships for calculating the thickness of the bottom wall and the rational distance between the longitudinal beams of the frame bottoms as functions of the sulfuric acid fill level (hydrostatic pressure) are presented.

Calculation of the Process of Separation of Insoluble Fluid Systems
Аннотация
In technology and practice, it is often necessary to separate liquid homogeneous mixtures consisting of two phases — solvent and solute. When the densities of the substances differ, gravitational, centrifugal or other type clarifiers can be used for the separation of phases. In the work done based on the example of a water + oil solution, a physico-mathematical model was formulated describing separation of liquid mixtures of this kind in a field of gravity (gravity settler) and in a centrifugal force field (in a liquid centrifuge). Based on the proposed mode of separation of solutions on the considered types of equipment, a numerical simulation is proposed to describe the process of separating the oil phase from the aqueous phase.



Study of Reasons for Damage of Steel 45Kh25N20S Centrifugally-Cast Tubes in Reaction-Heater Furnaces
Аннотация
Factors are analyzed causing damage of reaction-heater furnace centrifugally-cast tubes (of steel 45Kh25N20S). On the basis of a loading model the stress-strained state of a tube close to annular welded joints is calculated and reasons are explained for nonfulfillment of strength conditions due to imperfection of the technology for pipe manufacture and a lack of specifications for the upper strength limit of welded joints with respect to basic metal. Recommendations are provided for preventing tube damage.



Calculation of Force Parameters for Powder Material Hydrostatic Compaction
Аннотация
A procedure is proposed for calculating the main force parameters during hydrostatic compaction of powder material objects. Internal residual stresses arising during compaction of hard fine media are evaluated. Measures are proposed for reducing them in finished objects.



Dynamic Model of Differential Closed Planetary Gearing and the Spectrum of its Eigenfrequencies
Аннотация
Problems that arise in the construction of dynamic models of differential closed planetary gearing used in drilling technology are considered. The influence of the parameters of the system on the eigenfrequencies of the oscillations of the dynamic model is estimated by serial variation with step 0.5 of all the elastic-inertial parameters in the range 0.5–2.0 from their computed values.



An Advanced Design of a Boring Bar for Grinding the Cylinder Plugs of the U8-6MA2 Drilling Pump
Аннотация
Methods of restoring the internal surfaces of cylinder plugs of the U8-6MA2 drilling pump with the use of an advanced design of a boring bar possessing a complicated cross-section are proposed. The rigidity and maximal flexure of a boring bar with a machine milled surface are calculated. The economic efficiency of the proposed design is demonstrated, with a 30–40% increase in productivity.



Effect of Welding and Heat Treatment Regimes on the Mechanical Properties of Various Titanium Alloy Welded Joints
Аннотация
Results are provided for experimental study of automatic argon-arc electric welding and heat treatment regimes for butt welded joints of titanium alloy plates of domestic and foreign manufacture. Welded joint microstructure is studied and ultimate strength in breaking tests is determined.



Design of Actuator of the Drives of Nonstationary Mixers
Аннотация
A geared linkage driving mechanism of the drive of a non-stationary mixer the mechanical diagram of which is designed at the level of the smallest dimensions is developed. With such a design of the drive it becomes possible to improve the quality of manufactured products and accelerate the mixing process through continuous intra-cycle variation of the amplitude and angular spin rate of the working bodies.



Mathematical Modeling of Thermal Oxidative Degradation of Polybutadiene in Solution
Аннотация
A new mathematical model of the process of degradation of diene rubbers is proposed as the basis for the design of industrial reactors used for this process. It describes a homophasic thermal oxidative process that occurs in a polymer-solvent system under the action of atmospheric oxygen in the presence of an initiator. A mathematical description of the rate constants of the reaction elementary steps is proposed, taking into account the cage effect. The parameters of reaction rate constants in terms of their correlation with the initial and current viscous average molecular masses are estimated.



A Modified Method of the Number of Transfer Units for Calculating a Cooling Tower
Аннотация
Calculation of a cooling tower with regular packing using a modified method of the number of transfer units is considered. Diffusion models recorded for gas and liquid phases with volumetric sources of mass and heat, taking into account interphase transfer, are used to account for the mixing of flows. From the solution of diffusion models, unknown coefficients are identified from the number of transfer units. A sample calculation of the layout of a cooling tower with plastic mesh packing is given along with experimental values of the regime and the thermodynamic parameters of water cooling in the cooling tower.



Experimental Evaluation of the Efficiency of Long-Stroke, Low-Speed Reciprocating Compressor Stages in Compression of Different Gases

Results of comparative experimental tests of a stage of a long-stroke, low-speed reciprocating compressor with compression of air, helium and carbon dioxide in a single-stage from atmospheric pressure to 5.0−10.0 MPa are presented. An analysis of the working processes of the stage is performed in the course of operations in these regimes. The results confirm the assumptions that it is possible to compress gas in a single stage from atmospheric pressure to high pressures with an acceptable level of discharge temperature and with acceptable integral characteristics.



Effect of Thermoplastic Ultrasonic Treatment on Level of Turned Surface Roughness
Аннотация
Results are presented for experimental study of a new method for turning workpieces of thermoplastic polymers (caprolon and fluoroplastic), including workpiece advance treatment with ultrasonic vibration. The expediency of using this method is confirmed since advance ultrasonic treatment makes it possible to provide a reduction in the level of workpiece surface roughness, and this is indicated by roughness parameter values and forms of shaving obtained.

Optimization of Refrigerant Composition of Low-Temperature Stage of Dual Mixed Refrigerant Cycle

The results of optimization of low-temperature refrigerant composition in dual mixed refrigerant cycle by mathematical-analytical method using performance data for increasing liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and decreasing specific energy consumption are reported. The flow diagram of the LNG cycle with dual mixed refrigerant is presented. The advantages of using dual mixed refrigerant cycle are shown.



Multi-Stage Separation of Neon Isotopes Over a Single Column
Аннотация
Separation of neon isotopes by rectification over a packed column is examined. The separation coefficient of the isotope pair 20Ne–22Ne is close to unity due to their similar properties. Rectification columns with contact space ~ 20 m in height are required to obtain isotopic products of high purity. The separation was carried out in a compact column using several stages because of vertical limitations. The obtained fractions were collected in gas tanks, compressed, purified, and directed for further enrichment in the same column. The degree of 22Ne extraction was shown to increase if the concentration of it in the distillate was held to the minimum. Ne isotopes could be obtained in 99.99% purity in 5–8 consecutive separation stages depending on the operating regime. An industrial pilot plant was built. A method for estimating the column operating time to produce a given volume of isotopic product was proposed.

Comparative Analysis of Results of Experimental Studies of Piston Hybrid Energy-Generating Machine with Smooth and Stepped Slot Seals
Аннотация
The results of experimental studies of piston hybrid energy-generating machine having smooth and stepped slot seals are analyzed. It is demonstrated that stepped piston seal is much more effective than the smooth one and raises the delivery factor of the compressor section by more than 10%, reduces the average temperature of the cylinder-piston group by 2–3 K, and enhances volumetric efficiency of the pump section by 3–5%.



An Analysis of the Influence of the Angular Spin Rate of the Crankshaft of a Hybrid Piston Power Machine with Stepped Slot Seal on the Working Processes and Operational Characteristics Based on the Results of Theoretical and Experimental Studies

The operation of a new stepped piston seal used in a hybrid piston power machine is described. The hydropneumatic design of the test bench is provided. A mathematical description of the working processes that occur in the seal is presented. Results of theoretical and experimental studies and an analysis of the influence of the angular spin rate of the crankshaft on the working processes and operational properties of a hybrid piston power machine are presented.

Tribological Properties of Electrochemical Coatings Based on Nickel
Аннотация
Nickel-graphite bisulfate composite electrochemical coatings (CEC) are prepared. Deposition of these CEC in a galvanostatic regime is studied. Composite coating tribological properties are determined. It is revealed that graphite bisulfate improves coating tribological properties.



Improvement in Babbit Sliding Bearing Quality with Electrospark Alloying
Аннотация
Methods are considered for improving the quality of babbit sliding bearings by applying individual elements to their surface with electrospark alloying of soft antifriction metals. Numerical values are determined for the adhesion force between metals during formation of an antifriction layer using traditional (Fe–Sn) and suggested technology (Fe–Cu and Fe–Cu–Sn). The expediency of using an intermediate copper layer for improving sliding bearing running in is confirmed by calculation.

Simulation of the Parameters of an Ultrasonic Dosed Cavitator with Radiative Plate. Part 1. Analysis of Effective Technical Means of Ultrasonic Exposure and a Technique of Variant Structural-Parametric Design

Effective technical means of cavitation treatment and dosed deposition of reactoplastic binders using ultrasonic vibrations are analyzed. The technique of variant construction of ultrasonic cavitators with radiative plates is described. The proposed methods of computer-aided design are based on integrated use of parametric models and computer graphics, which together graphically reflect the existing variational relationships between the different elements of the construction of the created articles. As a result this makes it possible to rapidly determine the required dimensions of radiative plates for rational application of their features in a specific technological process.

A parametric visualization of the method of variant design of ultrasonic cavitation devices with radiative plates is proposed. The proposed techniques of computer-aided design are based on integrated use of parametric models and computer graphics that graphically reflect the existing variational relationships between the elements of the construction of the created articles. The approach makes possible rapid determination of the required dimensions of the radiative plates for use in a specific technological process.
