Abstract

The leak-tightness of shutoff assembly of pipeline fittings is analyzed. It is shown that leak-tightness of shutoff assemblies depends on the presence of a continuous line formed by the contact spots rather than the area of the contact surfaces. A kinematic scheme and a design of a multi-disk grinding device that ensure high quality of sealing surfaces are presented. The results of experimental research, which confirm the quality of finishing of sealing surfaces of the shutoff assembly, are reported.
