Niklas Luhmann’s concept of social communication and documentary information theory: Cross points
Abstract
Niklas Luhman’s concept of social communication is considered. The relationship between communication concepts and information theory is shown. The heuristic potential of Luhmann’s theory with respect to the document and information disciplines is analyzed.

Information Systems
From documentation to neo-documentation
Abstract
This paper reviews the materials published in the special issue of The Proceedings from the Document Academy (Tromsø, Norway), dedicated to its 20th anniversary, exploring the development, main ideas, and future prospects of neo-documentation.

Service-oriented architecture for a scientometric information system
Abstract
Issues are discussed that relate to designing a state automated scientometric information system. A conceptual model is developed. The model, as well as its software analogues, is used to analyze the experience in the design of scientometric information systems in Russia and abroad. An original scheme is proposed for the implementation of the program architecture. The main feature of the scheme is the ability to collect all the necessary data and provide functionality to end users through the import and export of web services.

A JSM intelligent system for toxicity. Analysis of functional cumulation of chemical compounds
Abstract
Here we present the structure of a JSM intelligent system for toxicology. We report the results of data analysis regarding the functional cumulative activity of chemical compounds, based on which the degree of activity is predicted for unstudied compounds.

The construction of classification schemes: Methods and technologies of expert formation
Abstract
This paper explores the problem of constructing a classification scheme of logical-semantic relations between parts of sentences, sentences and fragments of text regardless of its language. The proposed technology for the construction of the classification scheme involves two main steps: the automated formation of a classification heading list and the development of a scheme based on the generated list. The developed method of automated heading formation makes it possible to create verifiable classifications for a wide range of subject areas in which methods of text (and other information objects) processing are applied, for example, in the field of scientific and technical information.

Asymptotic probability of encountering an accidental similarity in the presence of counter examples
Abstract
Previously, we found the generating function of an accidental resemblance to the b parent examples at m counter examples [1]. In this paper, we restrict ourself to the case where b = 2 with equal success probabilities p in Bernoulli trials for all attributes of each counter example and a success probability р2 for each attribute in an accidental similarity. If the number n of attributes tends to infinity, the success probability is defined as \(p = \sqrt {a/n} \), and m = b√n counter examples are considered, then the probability of the occurrence of an accidental similarity avoiding these m counter examples tends to 1 − e−a − ae−a [1 − e−b√a]..

Automation of Text Processing
One approach for evaluating the complexity of word combinations and sentences based on a fractal analogy
Abstract
A model based on a fractal approach is proposed, which makes it possible to quantify the complexity of text structures in terms of the fragmentation of representing the meaning. By analogy with fractal dimensionality, based on the system-functional approach, indicators of the dimensionality of word combinations denoting concepts and sentences of natural language are introduced. A geometric illustration of the vector model of the formation of meaning expressed by such constructions as word combinations and sentences is presented.
