Effectiveness of basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation in students in the specialty “general medicine”

Improving the quality of CPR is an important task for future doctors, which is why it is necessary to understand the degree of loss of skill during the training. The study was conducted with the purpose of revealing the degree of decrease in the effectiveness of performing resuscitation measures for graduate students in the specialty “General Medicine”. Training and control skills were carried out at the Department of Family Medicine and at the Attestation and Training Simulation Center of North-West State Medical University. I.I. Mechnikov. Statistical analysis was carried out on a random sample from the general population, the results obtained (n = 366). The parameters were evaluated: the depth of compression, the position of the hands during compression, the complete release of the hands between the compressions, the frequency of compression, the volume of inspiration with artificial ventilation (IVL), the inspiration rate of the ventilator. The obtained results revealed a tendency to decrease the efficiency of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Considering the results, it should be noted that most of the estimates for the initial control are in the range 79-85% (mean 78.51%), and at a repeated evaluation in a month in the range of 70-73% (mean value 73.23%). Based on the results obtained, it follows that the “survivability” of the skill for one month is maintained at a consistently high level, but it should be noted a slight decrease in the effectiveness of the indicators: the position of the hands during compression, the complete release of the hands between the compressions, the inspiration rate of the ventilator.
