Alpatov V.

摘要

In the history of the development of any science, including linguistics, different schools and directions simultaneously coexist, but historiographers usually distinguish among them the prevailing ones according to the specifics of the consideration of a scientific object. The author demonstrates “the development of linguistics in a spiral”, identifies the reasons for the change of scientific directions and approaches to language learning. As shown in the article, in the history of linguistics, trends of research dominating at a certain period and those considered marginal often change place.

World Modelling in French Discourse Analysis

Vereshchagina N.

摘要

The article analyses the theoretical foundations underlying the concept of the ‘picture of the world’ in the discourse analysis in French linguistics. The analysis of discourse emphasizes the dependence of the meaning of a word on the subject of communication which leads to the accentuation of the problem of correlation between the cognitive subject and the world and the formation of epistemological concepts, the most important concepts being the subject of the utterance, the cultural conditioning of the utterance, etc. Such concepts require an awareness of the nature of their embeddedness in the problems of linguistics.

Elizabeth Elstob against Jonatan Swift: the Quarrel of the Ancients and the Moderns and Anglo-Saxon Studies in Eighteenth-Century Britain

Guermanova N.

摘要

The article analyses E. Elstob’s preface to her “Rudiments of Grammar for the English-Saxon Tongue” as a document illustrating the beginnings of Anglo-Saxon studies in eighteenth-century Britain. Highlighting Elstob’s polemic with the authors denying the value of the Anglo-Saxon heritage, the author demonstrates that in the ‘Quarrel of the Ancients and the Moderns’ the researchers of the Old English language and culture took the side of ‘ the Moderns’ due to the accent on the Anglo-Saxon identity of Britons and the use of modern textological methods.

Some concepts used in linguistic translation studies are analyzed, and the inexpediency of rejection of the equivalence category is justified.

Prognostic Aspect of the Psycholinguistic Study of the Meaning of the Word

Pishchalnikova V.

摘要

Diagnosis of actual psychological significance is an important pragmatic task of Linguistics. Its solution allows us to scientifically predict the ways of changing the meaning of a word and create corrective methods of language teaching. The author shows how it is possible to establish trends in the change of meaning based on a psycholinguistic experiment. This is a change in the hierarchy of meaningful features of the lexeme; polarization of its connotative meaning; mismatch in the associative fields of the lexeme modeled at different times. The comparison of associative fields is carried out both based on all its structural and content components and by individual parameters: types of predication (signs of association), the coefficient of frequency of reactions, etc.

The results obtained showed that in the minds of German speakers there is no clear idea about the concept under study, it is perceived by them as an imposed value that has various functions. It is rather a communicative category, which, due to misunderstanding and lack of a precise definition, is criticized by the carriers of linguistic culture.

Embedded Narrative and National Discourse: Akunin’s Narrative Strategies in the Detective Story “Jade Rosary”

Liu J.

摘要

The article studies the structure of the embedded narrative in Akunit’s detective story “Jade Rosary”. It is shown that the symmetry and mirroring of space and time in the plot-compositional structure, associated with the discourses of Chinese and Russian culture, are accepted as narrative strategies to strengthen the author’s position on the harmonious connection of East and West and on the creation of a new Eurasian national identity. The stereotypical thinking about the image of China is manifested in the national discourse. At the same time, influenced by Western detectives and the tradition of Russian literature, Akunin strives for innovations in the narrative model with the creative use of Eastern culture in order to achieve deep resonance from the reader.

The article deals with the problem of preserving ethnic cultures in the conditions of internal diaspora. The material is based on the questionnaire data obtained in two sociolinguistic surveys in the Chuvash and Mari diasporas of the Moscow region. Knowledge concerning ethnic traditions and customs is one of the key markers of respondents’ ethnic identity; however, weak intergenerational language transmission leads to its disappearance in the second generation of the diaspora and, as a consequence, results in a gradual loss of ethnic cultures and ethnic identities of second-generation representatives in the internal diaspora.
