On the role of seismicity, magmatism, and volcanism in the formation of climate anomalies and catastrophes

Trap magmatism was a natural source of Ca and CO₂ for sedimentation processes in the Upper Cretaceous period, and seismicity was not a decisive factor. At that time the CO₂ concentration in the atmosphere was higher than the current one by an order of magnitude, the climate was close to humid everywhere, and the ocean was shallow. At the present period of geological climate warming, periodic bursts of catastrophic planetary seismicity are a determining factor in the formation of climate anomalies and disasters.
