Аннотация
В настоящее время возвращается интерес к проектированию и применению оболочечных конструкций в архитектуре и строительстве. В связи с появлением современных компьютеров, уточненных методов расчета оболочек, новых строительных материалов, развитием дифференциальной геометрии и бурным ростом численных методов расчета возникла возможность создавать архитектурные шедевры из оболочек канонических и неканонических форм, которые становятся визитной карточкой города или страны. Эта проявляющаяся тенденция у молодых российских и зарубежных специалистов внушает оптимизм ученым, чьи исследования связаны с тонкостенными оболочками. В статье рассмотрены некоторые итоги работы департамента строительства Инженерной академии Российского университета дружбы народов по привлечению студентов к архитектурному проектированию и вовлечению магистрантов в научные исследования по архитектуре, теории расчета тонкостенных пространственных конструкций и их применению в строительстве и архитектуре. Приводятся публикации студентов по рассматриваемому направлению.
