The history of building of wooden shellsnumbers several centuries. It begins after hipped roofs of tower buildings and church domes. Principally new structures of large-span wooden shells appeared in the 1920th. After this period, the history of building of wooden shells is researched in the manuscript. Review of the ways of development of modern architecture of wooden structures which is directed both towards the creation of the sole unique objects and towards the forming of standard structures, is the aim of this manuscript.
