Abstract

The urgency of testing residual creep deformation of high-chromium steel steam pipes is substantiated. For cases when the high-chromium steel pipes are delivered from the manufacturer without reference marks, it is suggested to measure residual creep deformation not by the traditional method, i.e., without the use of reference marks. For this purpose, the design of a device enabling checking residual deformation directly on the outside surface of a pipe element is proposed and the principle of action of this device is described. The acceptable accuracy and reproducibility of the measurement results by means of the proposed device is substantiated.
