Hooley’s Problem on Representations of a Number as the Sum of a Square and a Product

Abstract

Hooley’s problem on representations of a number as the sum of a square and a product is considered. For the first time, we show that the number of solutions satisfies an asymptotic formula with a power estimate for the remainder.
