Abstract

Experimental data obtained when studying two types of SAW-sensor–based gas-analysis cells are presented. Single cells (monocells) containing one gas-sensitive sensor as well as dual (differential) cells containing gas-sensitive and reference sensors have been studied. Trial substances used in the research were gaseous mixtures of ammonium or hydrogen sulfide with artificial air. Functional polymers modified by compounds that determine selectivity toward respective trial substances were used as coatings applied to the surface of SAW-sensors.

As a result of the research, the static and dynamic characteristics of both cell types have been determined for different values of the preloading of the gas-sensitive SAW-sensor with a sensing coating. These characteristics have enabled a conclusion on the prospects of using the SAW-sensor in hermeticity control devices operating under atmospheric conditions.
