Journal of Machinery Manufacture and Reliability

Journal of Machinery Manufacture and Reliability is a peer-reviewed journal devoted to advances in machine design; CAD/CAM; experimental mechanics of machines, machine life expectancy, and reliability studies; machine dynamics and kinematics; vibration, acoustics, and stress/strain; wear resistance engineering; real-time machine operation diagnostics; robotic systems; new materials and manufacturing processes, and other topics. The journal publishes original manuscripts submitted in English, as well as works translated from several other journals. The sources of content are indicated at the article level. The peer review policy of the journal is independent of the manuscript source, ensuring a fair and unbiased evaluation process for all submissions. As part of its aim to become an international publication, the journal welcomes submissions in English from all countries.

PEER REVIEW AND EDITORIAL POLICY
The journal follows the Springer Nature Peer Review Policy, Process and Guidance, Springer Nature Journal Editors' Code of Conduct, and COPE's Ethical Guidelines for Peer-reviewers.

Approximately 30% of the manuscripts are rejected without review based on formal criteria as they do not comply with the submission guidelines. Each manuscript is assigned to at least one peer reviewer. The journal follows a single-blind reviewing procedure. The period from submission to the first decision is up to 6 weeks. The approximate rejection rate is 25%. The final decision on the acceptance of a manuscript for publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief.

If Editors, including the Editor-in-Chief, publish in the journal, they do not participate in the decision-making process for manuscripts where they are listed as co-authors.

Special issues published in the journal follow the same procedures as all other issues. If not stated otherwise, special issues are prepared by the members of the editorial board without guest editors.

Investigation of Special Positions of the Parallel Mechanism of the Delta Family with Four Degrees of Freedom
Laryushkin P., Erastova K., Kobylkevich K., Skvortsov S.
Аннотация

The results of investigation of two types of special positions of parallel mechanism with four degrees of freedom and four linear drives are presented. To solve the problem, an iterative algorithm is used, which consists in a linear exhaustive search of the points of the working zone of the mechanism and analysis of the behavior of the determinants of the matrices of partial derivatives of the input and output coordinates. The solution of the problem stated is necessary to estimate the dimensions of the effective working zone of the mechanism and is an important stage in its parametric synthesis and design.

Construction of Program Motions of Relative Manipulation Mechanisms with Three Degrees of Freedom
Vorob’ev E., Mikheev A., Morgunenko K.
Аннотация

The method of coordination of motions of the modules of a relative manipulation mechanism with three degrees of freedom is proposed. The method is based on using the constraint equations of the modules and the generalized coordinates of the mechanism as a whole. The problems of the construction of joint motion of modules implementing the program motion of the point of the output link of one module in the mobile coordinate system of another module were solved.

Dispersion Relation for a Finite Cylindrical Shell Immersed in a Liquid
Kosarev O.
Аннотация

The dispersion relation is obtained for a free finite cylindrical shell immersed in a liquid. An example of calculating the roots of the dispersion relation is given.

Description of the Fields of Vibration in 2D Latticed Structures with Triangular (Hexagonal) Cells
Krupenin V.
Аннотация

This article deals with the problem of describing the fields of vibration in string lattices with triangular (centered hexagonal) cells. The problems of this kind have not been adequately studied despite the fact that the required models find application in the dynamic analysis of various machines and structures as well as in crystallography and materials science. Equations of motion are provided. Problems of propagation of sinusoidal waves and induced oscillations under a random broadband force action are considered.

Resonant Tuning and Vibration Parameters of the Bar System with a Piezoelectric Exciter
Astashev V., Pichugin K.
Аннотация

The conditions of resonant tuning of the bar system with a piezoelectric vibration exciter are determined. It is revealed that the resonance frequency depends on both the dimensions of the system and the location of the exciter. The main features of the behavior of the system in the resonant modes are defined. The parameters of resonant vibrations are compared with the parameters of vibrations of the classic Langevin transducer.

Kinematic and Power Analysis of a Two-Cleaner Shoe Drive System of a Grain Harvester
Dubovik D., Pribyl’skii V., Novikov A., Vyrskii A.
Аннотация

This article examines the procedure of kinematic and power analysis of the two-cleaner shoe system of grain harvesters. The procedure is based on presenting the design model of the drive system by combining standard modular elements of a four-link jointed mechanism and a block of design formulas. The analytical relations of the kinematic and power characteristics to the weight and geometric parameters of the links of the cleaning drive system are derived. The results of examining the two-cleaner shoe system of the grain harvester KZS-218 PALESSE GS12 are presented.

Reliability, Strength, and Wear Resistance of Machines and Structures

Improving the Carrying Capacity of Structural Elements of Vehicles by the Corrosive Strength Criterion
Chibukhchyan G., Stakyan M., Chibukhchyan O.
Аннотация

The problems of improving the accuracy of the definition of resistance to corrosive fatigue of the shafts of transmission gears, which operate under the effect of atmospheric precipitation and under variable complex loading (joint cyclical bend and torsion), were considered. According to the results of fatigue tests, the equations of the families of fatigue lines for the probability interval of no-failure P(N) = 50–99.9% were derived. The dependences to determining the coefficients of strength and durability in a wide interval of multicycle fatigue are obtained. The nomogram of these coefficients for a probabilistic estimate of the carrying capacity of the shafts at N = 105–108 cycles is given.

Electrical Conductivity and Fractal Properties of Carbon Threads
Akhmetkhanov R., Shul’zhenko A.
Аннотация

In this article, the reasons affecting the electrical parameters of heating units based on carbon threads used in woven heaters were analyzed. One of the reasons is electric contacts between the filaments formed in a random manner. The representation of a structure having an effect on the electrical resistance of a carbon thread in the context of a fractal conception is new. The results can be used in development engineering and improvement of manufacturing technology with the aim of enhancement of electrical performance of woven heaters.

Evolution of Physical and Mechanical Properties of Nanostructured Titanium upon Annealing
Stolyarov V.
Аннотация

Nanocrystalline and submicrocrystalline titanium are synthesized using the methods of severe plastic deformation by twisting and equal channel angular pressing with subsequent cold rolling. The microhardness, magnetic susceptibility, and electrical resistivity have maximum values in highly strained titanium. Annealing in the temperature range of 673–1123 K leads to restoration and recrystallization manifested in decreases in the microhardness by a factor of 2, in the magnetic susceptibility by 15%, and in the resistivity by 20%.
