Comparative evaluation of pheromone activity for the European spruce bark beetle Ips typographus (L.) (Coleoptera, Scolytidae) and methods of their application
摘要
Comparative assessment of attractiveness of different pheromone products is presented and the possibility of using pheromone-baited sticky traps for identification of the pest foci and monitoring of its abundance is considered. The test variants showed high selectivity in the territory of the Tsarskoye Selo open-air museum. Pheromone with the addition of a-pinene and limonene was more effective when using barrier traps. During the season, 2636 beetles were captured in standard traps, 2431 beetles, in standard traps with the addition of a-pinene, and 2469 beetles, in standard traps with the same components and limonene. Comparison of the barrier and sticky traps showed the same tendency in the pest population dynamics revealed by the two types of traps (correlation coefficient 0.8862). The use of additional components increased the duration of pheromone activity. Thus, improvement of the component composition of pheromones and the types of traps is required for using them as tools to monitor the European spruce bark beetle abundance and assess the risk of damage to trees.

Overwintering ecology of Philonthus rotundicollis (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae) in the nest of the carpenter ant Camponotus herculeanus on the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk
摘要
A widespread rove beetle species, Philonthus rotundicollis, whose distribution range stretches across different climatic zones, including the coldest regions of the Asian northeast, was discovered as an inquiline within the nests of the carpenter ant Camponotus herculeanus on the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk in winter. It remained unclear if the beetles had significant cold-hardiness and whether they overwintered deep in the soil or were confined to particularly warm habitats. To clarify these aspects, the following metrics of cold-hardiness were measured: supercooling point (SCP), freezing point (FP), supercooling capacity (SCP-FP), and temperature minima at the beetles’ overwintering sites. In Ph. rotundicollis, mean SCP was -11.1 ± 0.7°C (ranging from - 7.9 to -18.8°C, n + 15), which was insufficient for successful overwintering even on the coast, since temperature minima in leaf litter during a snow-deficient winter fell to -14°C at the depth of 5 cm and -12°C at 20 cm. The beetles could not burrow deep into stiff soil and made use of crevices in dry peat-like soil layers as well as tunnels of soil- and rootdwelling animals, including carpenter ants. The presence of this rove beetle species in the ant nest was probably due to feeding on ant larvae because, at near-zero temperatures, the activity threshold of the beetles was lower than that of the ants that guarded the larvae.

Natural foci of the Moroccan locust (Dociostaurus maroccanus, Orthoptera, Acrididae) in Turkmenistan and their current state
摘要
The current state of natural foci and the population dynamics of the Moroccan locust Dociostaurus maroccanus in Turkmenistan are described. The slope aspect, micro-relief, plant cover condition, and the degree of anthropogenic impact were considered in natural landscapes. The locations of the natural foci were described using a Garmin eTrex GPS device. The causes and features of changes in the altitudinal and latitudinal distribution of the species’ natural foci in the Kopet Dagh and Koyten Dagh mountains during the second half of the XX and early XXI centuries are revealed. Both lower and upper range limit extensions of the locust foci are shown to have been due to xerophytization of the mountain ecosystems because of excessive pasture use and climate aridization. As a result, Turkmenistan presently supports 15 areas of D. maroccanus outbreaks instead of 12 areas known previously.

New species of the bristletail genus Allopsontus Silv. (Microcoryphia, Machilidae) from Southeastern Kazakhstan and Abkhazia
摘要
Two new bristletail species, Allopsontus (Anisoptinus) nigrus sp. n. from Southeastern Kazakhstan and A. (Kaplinilis) abkhazicus sp. n. from Abkhazia, are described. A. nigrus sp. n. differs from the only other known species of the subgenus Anisoptinus, A. borgustani Kaplin 2015, in a number of characters, namely, in more rounded paired ocelli, an extended apical segment of the labial palpus, a long articulated ovipositor, and in the absence of short appressed pigmented setulae on the maxillary and labial palpi in males. A. abkhazicus sp. n. can be easily distinguished from all the other known species of the subgenus Kaplinilis by the absence of short appressed pigmented setulae on the maxillary and labial palpi in the males, the absence of a projection with numerous spiniform setae on the male fore femur, and in shorter male genital appendages. The ocellus of the male and female is 2.8-2.9 times as wide as long; the length to width ratio of the eye is 0.9-1.0; the ovipositor consists of 60 divisions.

Asparagus beetles of the Crioceris duodecimpunctata (Linnaeus, 1758) group (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae) from Russia and Adjacent Countries
摘要
The distribution of Crioceris duodecimpunctata (Linnaeus, 1758) and two related species with their subspecies is defined more precisely. Crioceris orientalis tshingisana Lopatin, 1966, stat. n. and C. hypopsila demokidovi Semenov, 1909, stat. n. are treated as subspecies for the first time. Lectotypes of C. hypopsila Jacobson, 1907, C. demokidovi Semenov, 1909, and C. duodecimpunctata hypolachna Jacobson, 1907 are designated. The male and female genitalia are described and illustrated for all the species considered. A new key to the species of Crioceris without a black sutural stripe is compiled.

New data on the taxonomy and morphology of weevils of the genus Plinthus (Coleoptera, Curculionidae)
摘要
The taxonomic composition of the genus Plinthus Germar, 1817 is considered. The procedure of dissection of the weevil genitalia, variations in the endophallus armature, proventriculus, and crop in Plinthus species are described, and the terminology for these structures is explained. The taxonomic significance of the morphological characters of the endophallus, proventriculus, and crop, as well as the phylogenetic relationships of the genus Plinthus and its subgenera are discussed. New data on the taxonomy, morphology, and distribution of species from the subgenera Plinthomeleus Reitter, 1913 and Plinthus s. str. are presented. Keys to the subgenera of Plinthus and to species groups of the subgenus Plinthomeleus are given. Plinthus squalidus is recorded from the Caucasus and Russia for the first time.

Approaches to the identification of ectoparasite complexes of bats (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae, Miniopteridae, Rhinolophidae, Molossidae) in the Palaearctic
摘要
The first attempt at identifying the faunal complexes of ectoparasites of Palaearctic bats is presented. Several approaches are used to estimate the distribution and dynamics of parasitocenoses of different host taxa in both latitudinal and meridional directions. Our analysis shows that the arid temperate zone is characterized by the highest number of species and the greatest taxonomic richness of bat ectoparasites in the Palaearctic. The results obtained reflect the phylogeography of the Palaearctic bat families and tribes.
