Abstract

The electronic absorption bands of U(VI) fluoride carbonate and fluoride hydroxide complexes were assigned taking account of dissociation, hydration, association, and ligand exchange. The absorption in the range of 190–400 nm was found to be related to the formation of neutral and dissociated anionic U(VI) fluoride carbonate and fluoride hydroxide complexes and the polynuclear Na2n[(UO2–O–UO2)F4(OH)2n–1kH2O] complex.
